Time for a catch up.
A lot has happened over the last few weeks , at the moment we are in Mt Isa.
After kunnu we headed to Darwin for the v8s, was pretty good Craig McClouglan got the job done in the Mustang.
We didn’t see much in Darwin, but decided to have a look around Kakadu, so glad we did. First stop was the wetlands off the Arnhem Highway, I took on the walk trail , Woody opted for a little kip in the van, about halfway along the narrow track I spotted something coming towards me, looked like a pig, so I started taking photos , as it got closer I could see it was a wild dog, dirty brown colour with a big boofhead, he was about 10 m from me before he realised I was there, all sorts of scenarios were going through my head, but I pointed st him and said sternly bugger off.... and he did... whew....
Up the Oenpeli Rd to Ubirr was our next stop, this is where the bulk of the rock art is and some nice rock formations and majestic views over the wetlands there. Well worth a look.
A word of warning though , we camped at Merle campgrounds where the mozzies were in plague proportions.
Into Jabiru next to sort out some minor mechanical problems, a look in the Bowrali visitors centre then off down the Kakadu highway.
A look in at Sandy creek, don’t bother with that one.
Cooinda next for a camp, very nice, particularly yellow river, saw big croc, boat cruises available, looked awesome.
Gunlom next, wow spectacular pools at the top of a 500 m almost vertical climb, for the non climbers a beautiful large pool at the bottom just a 100 m from the campgrounds . Croc safe.
Katherine Gorge next for a river cruise, this one is must do, fabulous gorges , beautiful colours and a few freshies.
Then on to Mataranka hot springs, fabulous spot , good campgrounds, great walk trails, I did them all, a bonus was the worlds top whip cracker put a show on at the pub......wicked
Woody has an Uncle and a cousin in the Transport Hall of Fame, so we headed for Alice Springs, camped in the bush had a look at hall of fame and then went out to Standley Chasm in the McDonnell ranges, werent dissappinted
That’s all for now folks....
